Q&A with the coaches
**Creature - Protoss (Q1. Do you think you have improved as a player since you come on as a coach **
While my mmr has stayed about the same in about the 2 months I've been with Ladder Legends I think I absolutely have improved as a player. Even though I have less time to ladder as a coach now, I've learned new strategies to teach to my students that have made me more well-rounded. In trying to teach proper builds to my students it also reinforces some concepts that I may not have been as conscious of previously. I believe I'm getting better every day even if it doesn't show in the MMR right away it will show eventually. All it takes is one good day on the ladder of everything clicking to have a MMR gain of hundreds of points or one good tournament showing for a big swing in alligulac rating. Even though I'm still the same 5600 mmr as I was 2 months ago I believe I'm a better and wiser 5600 player than I was previously.
Q2. What's been rewarding for you as a person since you joined LLA as a coach?
The most rewarding thing for me as a person since joining Ladder Legends has been helping my students grow as players and improving their mindset. It helps me with my own mindset as a player because as coach I have to set a good example for my students. In trying to be a better coach for my students, it helps me be a better coach for myself. At the end of the day everyone is their own coach in some way and has to be a good coach to themselves to improve. It's also been rewarding being a part of this new amazing community, getting to connect with new and old faces who share my passion of StarCraft.
Q3. How much MMR do you think the average player joining LLA for coaching and practice could earn within 6 months of dedicated learning and playing.
In the 2 months since I've started coaching at Ladder Legends I've had multiple students gain 500-600 MMR within the span of 1-2 months. These students were also very motivated and persistent with booking sessions and asking questions, more so than the average student. I think after the first month once students learn proper early game openers and timings, they usually see the biggest mmr gains. After that it becomes more skill-based and they have to work harder to improve their overall skill within the game. So in order to gain another 500 MMR after the first initial gain it might take about double that amount of time and effort. Everyone learns at a different pace and it might take some players longer to see big initial gains. But I'd say on average with frequent coaching sessions and dedicated practice, the average player can gain 600-700 MMR.)

Q1.Since you joined Ladder Legends and came back to StarCraft 2 do you see a difference in your perception of the game and players alike?
I have noticed how much of a difference mindset makes in and out of the game. How big of an impact it has on improvement as well as performance in the moment. It has also given me great insight into how these kinds of biases begin and where people flock to find echo chambers of similar opinions.
Q2. What's been rewarding for you as a person since you joined LLA as a coach?
The most rewarding thing since joining LLA is watching my students start to grasp a myriad of concepts and put them together into a rhythm. Being the Oracle that helps them reach the next milestone in their progression and watching the passion grow for them as it did for me when I was 13 is a great feeling.
Q3. As one of the managers of LLA do you feel we have made a impact in StarCraft 2 through our coaching, masterclasses and content. If so how much of an impact do you think we made?
think Ladder Legends is single-handedly raising the average MMR of the playerbase while breaking the mold that sc2 players are all toxic and the top levels are gatekept by that same group of toxic people. the environment we offer is like no other the game has ever seen and I am excited to see how far we can take it.
**Nico - Terran ** Q1. Do you think you have improved as a player since you come on as a coach
yes, I feel it helps me think more instructively as a player since I have been teaching this to others on the fly that I may not have thought about it before joining Ladder Legends. As an example I used to consider my builds based on the map design. There are certain maps that are better for certain units and I feel I am more on top of this since I bring it up in my sessions. I also feel constantly challenged to learn more styles of plays so I can teach them to my students that I might not have done before joining.
Q2 What's been rewarding for you as a person since you joined LLA as a coach?
I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching people and seeing them improve. It is very satisfying for me and as someone who likes to learn I feel this has been the right environment for me to do that also. We also cannot forget my social skills have drastically improved.
Q3. Do you see yourself still being here within 3 years?
I 100% believe if we continue on our trajectory I will not only still be here but also be a better player and be a much better coach as well.
